Almost time

Almost time for pellethead season. Anyone take any youth out and slay a few?

Had a fantastic time with my 11 year old son and some different friends throughout the day Saturday.  He only caught 52 though, down from 73 last year.  All on his new 3 wt fly rod.

Sent 'em all back for the grown ups next Saturday.  Will definitely be a good day to fish for something besides trout.

That’s awesome. I worked the first day so my five year old daughters stayed home with mom. They’ll be going out Sunday with me.

We went out last saturday, he did good, but nothing like last year. But weather wasn't nothing like last year either. Small front came in and shut everything down where we were. Little guy got grounded this weekend so didn't go. But from what I heard parts of slippery rock and little conny were packed.

Caught a bunch last Saturday in the rain when nobody else was out. Went out today for 2 hours and caught about a dozen trout with 4 rainbows over 15". Saw practically nobody else today. If you don't like fishing in the snow, wind, and rain do you even like fishing?

We did our yearly get together at Papermill Bridge. Same crew going on 30 years now. I felt really old. Saw some of the "kids" with their own kids. I guess 1997 wasn't 10 years ago. Lol. Everyone caught fish and I didn't see many smaller than 10" with a buncha 15+s landed. Good for the State for stocking mostly "nice" ones. Hope everyone had a good time.

Surprised when we went over the bridge in West Newton yesterday at about 130 pm and only one guy on the upstream side wading....usually pretty busy in that area for the first weekend of trout.

Fished Deer Creek Saturday and this morning, the bite was ok.

Went out again tonight. Fished from 5-7 and caught about a dozen trout. 2 nice rainbows over 15". Seem like they stocked a lot of big fish this year. I've caught 8 over 15" in only 6 hrs of fishing.

Good thing the Opener was last weekend and not this one coming up. Everything here in Lawrence Co is blown blown aht! They just stocked the Neshannock yesterday. Those fish are holding on for dear life I'd guess. 😆

Although I didn't partake in the trout end of things (crappy end though), I almost pushed off to this weekend since things (especially Friday) weren't the best.  Saturday started cold, but got nice.  This whole weather thing is making me angry now...  The weather forecast calls for 60-70, then replace it with 40 and rain.  WTF weather dood???  Seriously, if Ashley Dougherty didn't have a baby bump, I might have some choice werds for her!  Just make it 60, partly sunny, maybe a passing shower and call it even!  I am so sick of this 40-50, rain and wind nonsense!!!

How about this forecast for next week?

I want to start taking a few days vacay here and there to go after crappie (tired of having to take almost the whole month of Dec. off if I shoot a deer early in archery) but not burning a day to fish in this weather....

Still need to take the boat out of mothballs and remove all the kids sports gear off it...and probably need at least 2 new batteries....  Haven't been to Greenlick in years and I can hear it calling my name...

You can pretty much tell, just from the forecast what day it is.

    45 rain/snow and 20mph wind = typical weekend day.

72 mostly sunny and light wind = every other week day...

It is like God is telling us to skip work.  Or in my case, schedule some meetings near the beach, since the stripers are running...  Don't worry, I will likely schedule my free time for the "you should have been here yesterday" time slot.  It usually seems better in my mind than reality.  Although I figured out a few nice patterns the last few times out.  Usually end up with a few shorties, which are average size Arthur byrds.

So that stocking last week, then the high water, made for a crusher day today. Caught 27 today this afternoon threading minnows. Mostly at German Camp, but got a few at Cinders also. The Neshannock is loaded loaded with trout. Saw a few fishers. Not many tho. Have a great Holiday weekend. Only 4 more weeks till walleye opens and the trolling begins.
