https://ipm.missouri.edu/ipcm/2015/9/weed-of-the-month-bush-honeysuckle-an-ornamental-gone-wrong/ I don't want to see another Honeysucker for a long time. Musta taken 3 truck and trailer loads from my kids back yard up Pymy to burn at our camp down the road a little. Told him he should ask the Amish if they want it for their goats since we pass two places on the way. Least it burned. Probably try and take a few more loads out later this week. Didn't fish Sunday morning but took a ride down to Arthur at 4:30 am and the top water feeding frenzy was on. crappy

rippinlip Not much bait/ Striper activity which I expected due to the cold north wind.
Saturday was my annual single day of low/no wind on Arthur. No way it could last more than a day on the weekend. It usually settles at night, so the bugs can go wild… The 4:30 thing sounds awesome and painful at the same time. Anyone know of what happened on Saturday, possibly on 422? Huge amount of black smoke, appeared to be a mile or so from the 422 bridge. Cars were backed up on the bridge.

Welp it took me a few years but I finally managed to get on some from shore yesterday. Right place right time I guess. Can't believe I yoinked two of em out, 9 and 10lbs. Best fighting freshwater fish I've ever caught. The first one was a riot, soon as I hooked it it shot out towards the middle of the lake like a rocket and sent my drag screaming. Second one was heftier and took awhile to wear down. Both on 8lb test on my medium bass rod made it especially challenging. Still looking for someone to invite me on their boat to get on 'em at night!

Awesome work! Those are nice looking fish. I've spent years trying to figure them out during the day, so I don't have to get them at night! An hour + drive home at 2-3AM is no fun. Much nicer to be home before dark and be able to wake up the next day and not be a complete waste! Besides being able to move away from the crowds easier, a boat isn't much of a benefit at night. I know of a few relatively easy shore access at night that holds them, that I rarely see people at. It does require a little hike at night and not just out of the car and fishing. Well, at least week nights. I don't even bother with the weekends anymore when it comes to night fishing. Those spots are probably jammed packed too. Not to be a jerk, but I know exactly where you took those photos from the very few clues in the photos. You may want to edit the backgrounds and even the bottom of the second photo. Take notes on what you did and likely be able to repeat at this time next year. Possibly other times of the year. These bruisers can be caught without having to fish late night. At least until everyone that fishes at night figures it out, then we will be shoulder to shoulder with them during the day too. Again, not trying to be a jerk, but you have put the hard work in to figure things out.

Thanks. I'm not worried about people figuring out the spot, it gets hit pretty hard already. Out of the dozen or so times I've fished there this is the only time I've ever got into some hybrids. I bet it gets hit a lot harder at night. I think it's just a stroke of luck that I ran into em there during the day. I have a couple other well guarded secrets to having caught em there though , if others recognize the spot they'll likely go there and not catch a thing.

Fished Arthur on Saturday, we did pretty good for once. The bite was pretty consistent from first light till about 9:15. We got off the water at noon, because the lake was starting to turn into a circus.

I'm 97% sure I was the one who made that original comment on an insanely large steelhead pic back in 2009 or something. I remember some dude with a gnarly beard, holding a 35+ incher, and it had some weird white lines around the fish. Back then, I genuinely thought that it might have been photo shopped and said as much. Here we are years later

Launched at the 528 ramp today around 6am, caught 3 largemouth, 2 perch (one was a jumbo), and 3 slabs. The bite turned off when the water temp hit 79.
