Elk Crick Mouth
What does the mouth look like for getting out onto the lake this year? The pucker factor was high end of last summer, hoping the winter blew the sandbar back out some.

There is currently 2 mouths small boats are getting out of 1st mouth(upstream mouth)but there are logs and trees to avoid and bars just outside mouth too if you go center or right so stay to the left when going out.Its sketchy I have looked it all over from a kayak and I am surprised boats are making it thru.Same as most years use at your own risk!!!Havent been up to ramp not sure what that is like...WCW

I paddled my yak thru it last evening with fish finder reading as shallow as 2.7 ft for a short stretch...its sketchy as usual but did see several boats getting thru it not all small boats. The west side of it is the best theres a bar to the east.Theres also logs under water...its doable saw some gud size boats go thru but I have seen several run aground also in last few weeks....hope this helps...WCW

Thanks dude. I'll just tilt the motor and "pole" out. As long as it doesn't kick up, we should be ok coming in the same way.

How big a boat you fishing out of there Pensfan? I also pondered if on a calm, south wind day, I could putter out with my 14' Starcraft with 15 hp. At that point, more worried about other boats wakes then the waves....... Personally, I'd rather be in a SOT yak than my 14' boat but the allure of walleye in close and not hitting the big lake in a LONG time has me itching...

16' Fury, 20Yamaha. The reason I wanna get down that end is, its too far to motor down to the Scout camp and Virginia's from Walnut. Plus there are more structure to fish down that way. Dont get me wrong, we have been getten 'em from Walnut to Trout, but im getting burned out fishing the same areas. If you have that itch, get up d'ere and scratch it. 2ft or less should be no problem for ya, I'm sure you already know that. Fishing is about as good as it gets for our area. Hope you make it up. This week is kinda shot for me, but next week should be a 2 maybe 3 tripper. Unless she decides to file for divorce🤣🤣🤣 then it'll be 1 maybe 2. Good luck!!! Go gi-cha sum...

Heck if she files for divorce you should be good to go 5 or 6 days a week!

Hit and miss on weekends, that is improving now that I am going back to my 'pre covid schedule. Vacation last week allowed us some more time. Sunday was 2 person limit, Monday was 2, Wednesday 3 person, no fishing Thursday, Friday was 2 person limit and Saturday was a 4 person limit. All out of Walnut, mostly in the 53 to 60 fow range from Trout run to Elk. A parking lot worth of boats out there kept navigation interesting. Most of our luck was on deep divers off the big boards or harnesses behind dipseys. If you could keep lures in the 40-45 foot range you could find a bite. Wasn't 'set the world on fire' fast but pretty good. I think I'm heading out deeper on the next trip to do some exploring. May not find anything but a lot of wasted fuel but hoping to find a better deep water pattern to get away from crowd. I was going to do that at the end of last week but knew one rider on Saturday was a kid on his first ever Lake Erie boat trip and first walleye trip, so stayed where we knew we had found them before.

Gosh, all the talk of fishin & catchin at Erie sounds great and reminds me, it's been a very long time since I last visited the lake.
Would it be worthwhile spending a few weeks in the area, tossing baits from the shorelines?

FYI Elks mouth is barely open... The mouth everyone used all summer is completely sealed up and the other mouth is very shallow there is a bar there and its less than 2 ft deep for a short distance some small boats are getting thru by walking boats out did see a 14 fter motor in thru it. WCW....
