CWD

Does anyone know for sure what areas are going to be included in 2-B  ?  Almost time to send for doe tags & I would like to know.  Now its coming from the north & coming up from the south in our area. We need some answers soon. Between CWD & these Ticks, I see a more rapid decline in the # of hunters for sure.  sam

If you have ever eaten pork, you have eaten some version of CWD.

There was a recent article in the SCI newsletter (sorry, no link because it was the paper printed version) that outlined CWD action a state took, I think it was ND. The action was the same as what was/is proposed in PA — find an infected deer and reduce the population in that area. Problem was, when they killed 80% or so of the deer population in what they deemed to be the affected area, exactly ZERO tested positive for CWD.

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

DarDys,   That is the sad part of this prob.,We hunters have always been bragging about how healthy Venison was to eat. Now there is doubt if that freezer full of meat is going to cause problems to you or your family. It is not reassuring to hear that they have not found any problems YET. I personally think that like anything else, moderation in consumption is the best policy. Actually the part that bothers me the most is what you are to do if you get a deer at the end of the day & are expected to either get the deer to a processor or try to disassemble the deer by flashlight before getting out of that zone.  sam

It amazes me that it has not jumped to cows. How many deer have nipped off the end of an ear of corn leaving saliva, and cattle must have taken in these prions. Just imagine the economic impact if it makes the jump.

CWD only affects those animals, controlled by the PennStateUniversity Game Commission. 😁

    Sam,
It looks like a small NW corner of Westmoreland Co is included in the DMA (encompasses SGL 042).
