Gobbler #1

Didn't take long this morning in 2A. Set up on a flat above a known roosting area. When the red birds started their morning signing, two gobblers went off just down the hill from my position. In the murky gray light of dawn, 3 hens fed up to my position and a full fall was bringing up the rear. I held off till he broke strut, and sent an arrow through his wing butts at 18 yards. The flopping began at 6:20. He has sharp, hooked spurs and a 9 1/2 inch beard. Probably a solid three year old. As I was tagging him, another bird was gobbling good down the hill and across a small creek. He was still gobbling as I carried this guy out of the woods.

    Dang I knew there was something I was gonna do today, completely forgot about Spring Gobbler. Dam old timers!!

    Ummm, also forgot, I quit hunting turkey years ago 'cause I can't catch one of those things either. Stupid birds!!!

    Congratulations Gene, nice bird and taking it with an arrow at 18 yds no less.

    Nice bird dpms! I would love to take one with the xbow, but then again I would actually have to go out. I did have a nice tom cross the road in front of me yesterday afternoon that had me thinking I should've been out in the woods earlier.

    Congrats on the bird! Just reminded me when I  could do those things but I do love to sit outside an listen to them talk.
