Lake Wilhelm Conditions?

Can anyone tell me if Wilhelm is open water? I haven't been there over winter and not sure how much ice they had there. Can you launch a boat yet? Thanks.

I was up Saturday just to check on the eagle nest. There was a lot of open water some thin ice near causeway and then up to I-79 ... no boats out that I saw ....

Thanks for the replies. How about down by the dam? Is launch one area free of ice? Thanks again.

BeenThereDoingThat but sorry, my New Years Resolution just won't allow me to "spot burn".

However, knowing my info will be totally safe on this thread and you have a secrete decoder ring..... goforit!

Ok wife and I did hit Wilhelm this afternoon ... only 4 hrs the wind was crazy ... white caps and all that good stuff... did get 12 Crappie only kept 4 ... they were around 9 or 10 " other ones were maybe about 7" .. lost a few more that probably would have made cooler but over all it was a nice time out on the water with my wife... fished from 1:45 until 6:00 that was enough for us both .... worked down by the dam and launch 1...

Steve glad to hear you and your better half got on the water today and caught fish.

I'm sure the wind showed absolutely noooo mercy while driving straight down the lake.

Next couple days I'm gonna give it another try except after reading Marco's report, I'm not sure which lake.

Dang, I hate having to make decisions.

Yeah BTDT .... the wind was blowing right down the lake for sure .. have spent many windy days on that lake but today had to rank right up in the Top 5 windy days. 👍 Probably willn't get back out for another week or so... we are heading to the Pocono Nascar Race in a week. Leaving a week from tomorrow morning ... got friends from Brazil that we meet every year at a Nascar race. This year he wanted to go to Pocono. We will meet them there and they will come back with us for a few days and then they will fly back to Brazil.... we have done this for years now met them st s race years ago . Well good luck at which ever lake you decide to go to bud

Caught a boatload of 6 to 8 inch crappies everywhere I pulled up on Saturday. Lots of boat traffic on the lake as well. Seen good number of boats trolling, didn't see much catching though.

psu, good to hear you caught a bunch of fish.

Even better, where you caught the fish.

Wilhelm is making her way back as evidenced not only by the quantity of fish being caught but by the quality, along with the number of anglers once again fishing her waters.

Now for the question: Should limits be imposed?
