French Creek

French Creek  Appreciate any info, fishing, kayaking from Union City to Franklin. Been there a couple times but I'm too old to check out the whole creek. Any tips?

Meadville to Franklin has several maintained launch sights lending access to some excellent fishing and or float boating however, expect to encounter areas of walking, mostly short distances pending the height of the crik.

Down stream of Meadville you will find Wilson Chute (PFBC maintained) a campground (Chattercreek) followed by Shaw's Landing (PFBC maintained) then a access sight off the Rt 173 bridge at Chochranton (PFBC).  From there it's off to a (PFBC) sight at Utica down to the city limits at Franklin and from there down stream into the Allegheny where you can access the (PFBC) boat access at 3rd street in Franklin.

Been nearly 15 years since I last made a float trip on the pristine waters of French Creek so there may very well be other access areas I am not aware of.

I'll stand corrected but I believe the PFBC maintains info showing these very sights and may even give a time it takes to float each leg of the crik.

Hope this info is helpful, be safe and have fun.

Ooops forgot Angler's Rest Campground at Utica and I believe French Creek Farms too.

Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a life time. ~Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie (1837–1919)~

Check USGS current conditions Pennsylvania_Streamflow
You have a good bit of options for floating. BTDT listed most of the fish commission launch sites. Most of the ones mentioned are a couple hours float depends on flow. Cochranton to Utica can be a good days fishing. Above Meadville is Seagertown access and that is a good day float. Cambridge Springs is above Seagertown. Be careful of the low head dam right above Seagertown. There are some bridge access and the route 19 and 6n access above Cambridge. Check google earth. In my experience gauge height should be at least 2.5 ft for a clean float but it's doable at 2.0 anything less is tough. Lots of good fishing.

Forgot to mention that there is a rapid right above the Cochranton bridge. I base the flows according to the Meadville gauge
