Neshannock Creek

Anyone fish Neshannock lately? If so, how's the bite been? I'm going up for the first time with my uncle soon and I'm not to sure what to expect. Seems like a pretty sizable creek with decent rainbows and browns. Also are there any particular flies that work well this time of year and can anybody give me an estimate on the average size fish from there so I know what weight fly rod to bring? Thanks!

Sounds good, thanks! I decided to take my 3 weight, just for a challenge :). I've got a tan beadhead nymph on for now but I can always change it.

Well, that was a pretty disappointing trip. Fish weren't hitting nymphs, streamers, or dries. Heck, the only fish I saw were little darters and whiners in neshannock. We started out at slippery rock creek: caught nothing, then went to neshannock: caught nothing, finally to the last resort around home (pine creek): caught nothing. Not sure why either, water conditions were about perfect on all three creeks. Maybe a bit low/clear but not very much. Oh well, guess I'll try up there again in the spring.

Should have went to Shenango River below dam area. Friends still catching Trout there. I believe they stock all year round. Nice size too! Check rules and regulations first .
