New Bait shop in Slippery Rock, PA

Sarah's Bait & Tackle
910 New Castle Rd. Slippery Rock, PA 16057

Fatheads, Shiners, Maggots, Mousies, Butter worms, Meal worms, and Wax worms

As a local to Slippery Rock, PA, I was more than excited to discover a new bait shop in the Area.  Sarah's Bait & Tackle (soon to be Bill's Bait & Tackle), located at 910 New Castle Rd. in Slippery Rock, PA just off of the I-79 exit across from the Dairy Queen.  I have been getting bait off of him since the fall and have been extremely happy with his bait and how he treats everyone.  Bill's prices and quality of bait is by far the best I have ever seen around here.  He raises his own shiners and fatheads although he still buys some fatheads from the truck.  If you ask for a dozen, he gives you a huge scoop full unlike the other bait shop in the area who gives you 12 exactly (I wont mention his name, .......Appalachian Trail LOL).  Anyways I had to post something on here to help the guy out since he is a little hidden.  If you need bait and know when you are going fishing I would suggest giving him a ring to get his hours @ 412-584-4019

He's only open on weekends and Fridays 7 to 5 I think. I was directed there by the guys at the beer distributor in forestville. But when I showed up on Sunday at three, there was nobody there.

Been there. He's a great guy and it is a great bait shop to go to. A lot easier than going out of my way for bait. And the prices are right, quantities are right, and selection/quality is great as well.

I highly suggest giving him a ring before you head out there.  He lives out of town and works a second job.  He has family in the area and can have them meet you if he knows your coming.  I have called him each time I need bait and have always either met him or his fiancé at the shop.

I just got a phone call from Bill this morning and he is already getting a response from this post and wanted to send a huge thank you to everyone.  He wanted me to let everyone know he will be open Saturday and Sunday from 7-5 and Friday 7-5, but has to run to Dr. for a bit, so if you need bait friday give him a ring ahead of time.

Bill also wanted me to let you know he just pulled a bunch of bait from his breader pond to include shiners and fat heads. He said they look amazing.

I just got off the phone with Bill and he wanted me to tell everyone thank you VERY VERY much for stopping by today.  He was very grateful of the response that came from the post on here and iceshanty.com.  I told him that he was the one that needed thanked for treating us fisherman so well.  He will be in the shop from 7-5 Saturday and Sunday.

Don't forget to support him guys when you can, even if it means going out of your way a bit. These are the kind of guys that do a real service to fishermen [and ladies] as they tend to be much more helpful than the large chain stores, having better local knowledge, etc... . I'd rather spend a few extra dollars at a small bait and tackle than to give it to the larger guys, but that's just my personal belief and philosophy. I'm sure many of you have lamented it when a good, small bait and tackle went out of business. Basically it's extremely difficult for them to compete with the deep discounts the large chain stores can offer. I'm not suggesting that anyone go broke buying from the independent ones, just do your personal best when you can help them out.
