Bass season!
Bass season starts on Saturday and nobody's talking about it. Why all the talk of trout season and not bass?

Cause there's really no closed season for bass. You're allowed to C&R all year, unlike troots.

Honestly I cannot stand all the hype for opening day of traht. And IMO, bass fishing is 100 times more fun than trout fishing. Cheers to opening day of bass...even though it's not going to be any different for me because I practically always C&R especially when fishing in the city.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

I normally fish for carp, but my friend wanted to go fishing. So we hit laurel hill creek, below the lake. We caught a good many smallies, a few rock bass, and some trout. I was mainly throwing a crayfish jig and gulp minnows. The biggest smallie was around 13". Nothing too impressive, but they hit so fast, it was hard to keep up.

Bridgeport, I always catch bass in my local lakes (Bridgeport, greenlick and Donegal) on crawlers under a float. It seems to me the bigger the crawler the better. I caught a decent largemouth at Acme on a topwater frog lure.

Trout are not hard to catch either, my little niece & nephew have no problem catching them when I take them out. And I usually cant keep the trout off my minnows when crappie fishing.

Well if you're using minnows you're obviously not fishing for a challenge.

No, I like to catch & eat crappie. I'm not looking for a challenge. Trout (stockies) are not a challenge for anyone I know who fishes the same water the trout swim.
