Need help!!

Does anyone live in the Pittsburgh area that knows how to work on boat outboards.  I just replaced the exhaust gasket and now i cant the trim and tilt to work.  I had to disconnect the relay box when removing the exhaust plate.  I need to get this trim fixed so i can replace the water pump.  Can anybody help or does anyone know anybody with out me having to pay an arm and  leg.  Any help would be appreciated

Is it possible that you reconnected a wire or two wrong when you put the relay box back on?

Did you check for power ? I don't know anything about that system but if you have all the wires in the correct locations see if one got shorted and blew a fuse and make sure a wire didn't pull out of the connector inside the shrink coveer

On my Yamaha there is a metal ring on your steering bar that has a tab on it.  That tab presses a trim/tilt button when engaged.  If that ring or tab is broken, the switch cannot be activated.  It would be worth checking to see if your motor has the same setup.

Try jumping (bypassing) the switch. That will eliminate that being the cause. It's all process of elimination.

That can be bypassed. That will eliminate it as the problem.

The easiest way to check a switch is take the wires off and put a multi meter on ohms. One probe on the off side and one on the on side. Switch it on and off and watch the meter. No meter? Take the wires off the back and touch them both together..
