Yough River

I live near the Yough in Smithton. I have never really fished it much over the years. Does anyone have any tips on how to fish from shore. I don't wade so I am looking for any hints as to bait and presentations for trout. I like the trout lakes but sometimes it is convenient for me to just hit the river. I want to try to learn to fish this river.

Take the yough trail around any of the parking areas in sutersville, west newton or wherevever and just walk or bike along till you see nice spot.  There's no substitute for getting out and exploring.  Plenty of nice holes accessible from shore.

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

Funny thing is I have lived 1/2 mile from it almost my whole life and never learned to fish this river. I tried it years ago and got skunked and never went back. Kayak is out. I am  too big to get my a** in a kayak. It's pretty much shore fishing for me until I get a boat which hopefully by the end of summer I will be able to afford the one I want. Just seems like shore fishing this river for trout is useless.

You'd be surprised... Our group has some guys close to or over 300 pounds, a lot of the quality yaks can support up to 500. I'd say if you have ANY interest at all take one out for a test run
