Pike Run DHALO
I was just wondering if anybody can help me out with finding a place to fish in the DHALO. I drove all around the area today and it seemed like its all posted. I tried looking on PFBC's website, google, and then looked in person and can't seem to find a place to actually fish. Any info would be appreciated.

I hope someone answers you because I am also clueless about the posted property. I did help stock and they did stock in the posted property, I got no clue about that. But check by the bridges, I seam to remember putting fish by 3 of the 3 bridges in the Dhalo section

Ya, thats really the only places I could think of. I wouldnt know where I could park then though. There isnt really much room to just pull off the road...especially when the land beside the roads is private.

Yep, it's all posted except the little section below the second bridge. But don't let that stop you. No one else does, or ever has as far as I know. I know people have been fishing that for at least two decades. Park at any of the numerous pulloffs next to the road. You can see where people have been parking -- there are probably 6-7 spots. Folks fish from the first bridge at the end of Daisytown down through the old pump station (where a dead end road that I think is called Vesta 4 crosses the stream and leads to a few houses) and below the second bridge to the power line crossing. That's the entire DHALO. Not great water by any means, least of all due to the sewage station in Daisytown a few hundred meters upstream. Stopped there last week. A PFBC officer from Washington County was up there checking the 5 people fishing, though he seemed to be unclear about the boundaries of the DHALO and the rules for fishing them. I stopped to ask him a question and he said this wasn't his water and he wasn't really sure what the regulations were.

The first bridge downstream I pull off by, the second bridge that leads over to some houses and has a few mail boxes by it I have parked by, and the last bridge upstream, maybe 100 yards or so past there is a few houses to a dead end facing the creek, you can park right there. All of those spots where stocked, a lot of fish missing and a lot of bait containers laying around.

That's about par for the course. There are still some fish in there though.

I always park at the concrete arch bridge at the lower end of the section and work my way up to the next bridge, i used to the fish that posted section all the time till they got crazy with the signs a year or 2 ago but still see people fish it, if its open water, the fish commision should put up some of those white signs they have that say fishing permited walk in only or whatever they use now, also the past few years i've noticed that there seems to be a little more fish lingering around and more patrols by the fish commision which seem to be maybe clamping down on the poaching problem there, years ago a few weeks after the stocking you could count on 2 hands how many fish were left in the whole section. Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm gonna give it a try one day this week. I'll post how I do afterwards.

Got both of these out there, I would say give it a try, most of them are average sized, but I am guessing the big one was washed down the last time we had the big snow

Well Fishink you werent kidding when you said its not the greatest water but I gave it a try and managed to catch one. The water was very clear and pretty low. There were empty worm containers everywhere. I just dont understand why its so hard to just follow simple rules.

This isn't the church man... Shake And Bake, when were you out there? I was just there today, caught another trout and missed about 5 or 6 more. Small flies is what I was getting most of the fish on.

I was out last week. I think it was Thursday. Went out today too and saw more suckers than trout. Just picked up some trout magnets to see what all the hype was about. I kinda just wanted to test them out and see how they work.

Depending on the regulations of the waters your fishing, try some trout worms and hackle or marabou jigs in similar sizes and compare your results. The latter are almost always more effective in my experience.
