I've had good success using single egg and sucker spawn patterns in size 12 or 14. Colors can rangefromsalmon egg through pink, chartreuse and white. I don't know what other anglers use as far a tippet goes but I use 8# to 12# fluorocarbon. If you use anything lighter you will be running up and down the stream all day trying to slow down the fish on the end of your line. Good luck, thats a great time to fish the Oak. I will be there the following week.

Anybody know if there any good number of salmon in Oak Orchard yet and if they have made it up to the Dam?

I usually do good on various estaz patterns and buggers. We'll be there the same weekend. Probably bump into you at some point.

I fished Oak Orchard last year during the first week of Oct. I caught several kings but they were all dark and I saw no Cohos. Seems that you have a better chance of catching a fresh fish or a coho at Salmon river. Please comment if you have any opinion on this.

no way slammin,, thats cool. you gonna be there this year? im not a big brown fan. we had a blast hammeren the kings. ended up with 13qt jars of eggs. i use a ton of singles for steel thats why i target the kings. although i wouldnt mind hooken a 10# or 12# brown. it would go on the wall.

That was a good weekend. We are heading up the 20-23 this year. I got a 12# going up on the wall. I still have a blast with the kings though.
