Genessee
If, by some grace of God, I manage to make it up after kings this year, it will most likely be at the Genessee, Oak Orchard, or surrounding tribs. Can someone do me a favor and post what's goin on up there? I see that the Salmon River in Eastern NY is stacked buy I have yet to hear anything about this part of the state. Thank you very much.

the smallr tribs will have them.
Thanks TD. I just picked the Genny because it seems to be the closest to me. I think I'd rather fish the smaller ones. I'm def a beginner. I don't even know if I will be able to go due to the money situation, but in case the stars line up, I want to learn as much as I can. Thanks for responding. If you hear anything about the smaller ones loading up, please let me know.

My friend and I didn't know anything about the Genesse not being for beginners and that was where we went for 6 consecutive years, always getting our 2 day limit. It was the first and only water we fished for salmon. That was BIG FUN! I sure do miss that. Good luck John. I hope you do well!

I just hope that I get to go. Sounds like a heck of a good time. I've always wanted to catch a big king. If I go, there will be a BIG write up on it and LOTS OF PICS (unless I don't catch anything). LOL! Love your new avatar!

Does anyone use braid for these fish, without a flouro leader? I was wondering how #20 PowerPro would do. Any thoughts?

braids perfect for snagging ... the sport with these hogs is light line ... im 20 and have been going to ny for a week trip since i was 5 ... these fish will bite when presented with the right bait ... well strike not bite ... and my lucks always been best with 8-12 lb ... i use mono also just cuz its cheaper ... yes snags will happen up there but if your in one of the many crowds that exist up there its easy/sometimes best if you foul hook one just to point your rod and break your line ... the mudsharks as they are called here are alot easy to control when hooked in the mouth but thats where the lighter line also makes it fun ... its a task to try to bring a 20+ lb fish to hand on that light line
