FOX PUPS

I saw what I thought was a wounded deer lying in a field. I saw a brown object and something flashing white. I guessed it was a vehicle hit deer. I spun around to discover it was 3 fox pups lying in the field playing with what looked like a potato chip bag. They were 100 yards out, so as soon as I figure out how to attach photos I will.

The fox are having a tough time aound here. My neighbor shot a mangy adult female in her barn, I shot a  pup in my back yard in the last stages of the mange and the only healthy pup got hit on the road in front of my house, all in the last couple weeks. Nature is tough.

    Tough...but seeing a lot more.....
My neighbor, 1 1/2 miles up the road said he was out coyote hunting a few weeks ago and at 4am he had 7 coyotes in the field at one time. He also saw, within the past  month, black bear. One was chewing on a fresh road kill doe. The next week he saw a mom and her cub in a field. My son almost hit a coyote near the end of our driveway last Sunday
Spoke with another neighbor, one mile the other way, she saw a bobcat cross the road in front of her.
I got up early, as usual,  this past Monday and listen to a gobbler going off every 20 seconds for 2 hours. I box called a few times and within 5 minutes had a hen in my front yard, less than 20 feet from my chair. A half hour later I had two LARGE red tails screaming and roosting in the yard.
I think the lack of rain and the high temps are having its toll on wildlife also.

Intersting! I've seen lots of monks. Turkeys and deer everywhere. Mumma fox looks healthy, havent seen her babies tho. No sign of the yotes. They come around more in deer season. Bear trax in the mud. Bear looked to be just cruisin thru. Geese and Ducks are abundant. This is all on 38 acres in erie county.
