Crooked Creek
Had the boat out last evening. I was the only boat on the lake. I thought this was odd until I fished for a few hours and noticed the fish I was catching. I caught probably 20+ crappy but most were 6 inches long, longest of the evening was 9". Is this what everyone else is finding?

Fished Crooked Creek last evening 5/23. Caught a lot of small crappie - 6" to 9". Couldn't find any bigger ones. Also caught a few channel cats. Three boats out on lake including mine.

I think the lake was getting hit pretty hard the last 5+ years. It will probably take a year or two of this low pressure fishing before we get the 11+ inch crappy back in numbers.

I am thinking about making my first trip tomorrow morning to Crooked Creek. Are their decent places to fish from shore, and if so, any insight on where might be a good place along the lake to set up ? I read some posts about the outflow area but it appears that might be hit or miss based on how much water they are releasing. Any insight would be appreciated.

fished the outflow area only once and did pretty good. Caught some nice smallmouth, crappie, catfish, and while I was there 2 people hooked into seperate muskie.

Shore access to the lake is primarily limited to the area around the beach, follow the signs.

Crooked Creek took the big hit back around 04 when the water was 20 ft above normal pool for an extended period of time. Basically killed off all the weeds. Some actually started to come back, then boom, high water level again ended it. Sure made Bass fishing a lot tougher also. There's probably some good fish there, they'll be deeper. I've caught'em fishing for bass on the bottom in 20' of water. KJN

You can fish around Fishermans Trail, when you start down the road to the beach there is a pull off to right, walk down over the hill and there is some shore access.

Thanks for all the advice. I really appreciated it ! I went to the overflow area and caught a few nice smallmouths, sunfish/ bluegills and a pumpkinseed fish. I had never even knew the pumpkinseed fish existed. It apparently is from the sunfish family but a lot bigger and fatter. It hit my crawler hard and I was hoping for a big bass but still fun to catch. Thanks again for all the advice. I am new to this forum and glad I joined.

Drove through Crooked Creek today around 2pm. The Outflow was a little high and muddy. The handicap dock was still out of the water. Up at the launch the lake was a little high but not too bad - fishable. The dock was put in the water.
