i used to stay at Ole Bull campground but know i found a place to camp out which is free, close to the creek, first come first serve.

i figured with the warm weather there should be some dry fly action besides the peace and quietness.

phill said the water in kettle is already 51 degrees. he also said if the warm weather keeps up the hatches will be real early this year and may be gone by the first day of trout.
lots of stoneflies but didn't see any BWO when i was up. watch out for hitch-hiking ticks.

ya im heading up the weekend of the 30th. if the water is that warm already its possible to start seeing hendrickson and some quills. crazy, hopefully it doesnt continue on this trend (weather that is) kettle was the lowest ive ever seen it last summer. 2 trips i didnt even get to wet a line because water was well over 70 at hammersley fork confluence. and even up around cross fork it was pushing 70+.

cross fork the water was just right as far as depth. kettle was running on the high side with good color though. should be a good weekend or two coming up.

Hey guys my names mike. Me and my dad are making a trip up to potter county this weekend. Were going to spend some time on Kettle Creek. Im looking for some tips on what areas are most productive, and spots you guys suggest to fish? any help would be appreciated.

Never fished Kettle, but I've always found that the areas with water are more productive than those without, and the spots with water AND fish are the most productive.

It's been way too long since I've fished Kettle and the many streams in the mountains. It sure is beautiful there!

Oh yes, the ye ol' Kettle. My dad use to take me and my brother on an annual camping trip to his Bear camp in Tioga County for Memorial day weekend.  We'd stay at camp w/friends and relatives.  Flipping rocks in a creek nearby looking for hellbenders and snakes, couldn't get over the size of the hellbenders we found! Then on Memorial day we'd all drive to Cross Fork for the fishing derby.  So many trout you could walk across their backs, lol! Did that for several years until we were too old to fish the derby. Some memorable moments were: my brother hooking a mallard, can still see that duck trying to fly away.. and me learning to cast a dry fly at my dad's instruction one early evening, then proceeding to snag a bat in it's wing. What has become of my youth..

"The images of himself and his line kept disappearing into the rising vapors of the river, which continually circles to the tops of the cliffs where, after becoming a wreath in the wind, they became rays of the sun."
