best reel for diamondback 905 3 piece fly rod

I am a beginner at fly fishing.  I just bought a diamondback 9' ,3 piece, 5# rod.  What is the best reel to put on this rod? Thanks,

    Most reels rated for 5/6 weight lines will do fine. There's many choices. If you have a flyshop near you, it's a good idea to go there, as they can explain the choices and load line and backing on the reel for you. Unless you are targeting steelhead with your 5 wt. , you don't need a reel that is pricey with a high tech drag, just one that is functional. Okuma, Redington, Orvis,Cortland (they make Diamondback rods)  and numbers of others make reels that are affordable and fishable. Good luck.

    Best bang for buck:

    Sub-$100: Okuma

    $100-150: Orvis (also the Lamson Konic)

    $150-up: Theres a ton of good reels out there for this kind of money.

    Orvis just discontinued the old school Battenkill. Those are my most used reels. The five weight originaly went for about a hundred bucks. Search around and you'll find 'em on close out. I just picked up a 7/8 Battenkill for $78 bucks.

    Just buy whatever you like or can afford. Fichy nailed it. A reel on a 5 wt. (or lighter) is basically just a place to put your line. I'm a sucker for old Pflueger Medalists myself. There's a reason they've been around forever.
