ORIGINAL: Dr. Trout

Since in the past 7-8 years my #1 spots to hunt deer are behind my home, I get checked very little ... poor access from SGL parking areas.. second best spots are all at clear creek and I have NEVER been checked over there... in fact have not seen the local WCO there.. but that does not mean he does not patrol there....

before that I would get checked almost every year hunting SGL#54 at least once by the local WCO ... show my license, let him check my gun and then a little time BSing...

Believe me ... when I tell you the WCOs I know are straight shooters.. I get no pass just because they know me...

If I was breaking a game code I would get fined just like the next guy...

I wasn't talking baout getting a pass on a game code, no one should get that.  I just wondered how often people got checked to see if the whole displayed license thing was a big deal.  I know I didn't get checked often and wanted to see if that was the norm.  It appears to be from what is posted here so far.

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

sounds like a lot of post traumatic stress syndrome going on over a hunting, fishing license draw , sort of like the final showdown when the music was playing before they opened fire in The Good The Bad and The Ugly I was asked to produce tags in NY.or OH. no watching their eyes, no drama ,simply just produced the thing! My grandfather lost his license in the woods one time and a warden was there when he got out. The warden forced my cousin (much younger) to quickly hike back in and find my grandfather's license since he didn't want to wait for the old timer to take his good old time going in and out.

Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

I get checked 5-6 time per year while hunting and never had a problem. This year I kept my license in my pocket and not once did they say anything about it being there when I pulled it out in front if them. I have always kept in in my pocket while small game and any hunting I'm walking through thick brush and again even in last years not one time did they even complain or ask why. Even while fishing I keep it in a pocket and have never had a problem there either.

Like somebody already said if you know your local wardens and you never give them a reason to cite you they won't even bother you other then a simple "how's it going? Doing any good?" heck while fishing the spillway at Pymy last year, everybody was checked but me because I know the warden and he has seen me throw back 15-16" walleye and fish with no hooks in the mouth but on the outside of the lips even. When he said that hooked on the outside of the lips I good to keep, I told him that no fish is worth a fine and I will catch more that are inside the mouth.

If you don't break a law, you have nothing to worry about.

The worst day hunting or fishing will always be better then the best day at school or work!

Have not been checked by a WCO in a couple of years..

Not sure if it's the wierd hours I hunt (like early am or nights) - which, I believe, conflict with the time-slots when the freshies hit the Dunkin Donuts racks....

I will continue to display,,

I don't need/want/desire exchange of pleasantries with my area's green-jacketed thugs... (seriously..)

The last thing I need is to have any sort of contact/exchange with a revenue enhancement officer.

In PA, they're just going to hassle you no matter what. I try to do most of my sporting out of state now.
