Perch/Pickerel

Great day with over 70 perch caught (only kept 25 nice sized ones) and seven pickerel (kept two).  Great day on 6" of ice with Eagle Crg and only a one mile hike into the lake over some rough terrain.  Nice day with plenty of sun although the wind did kick up a few times.  Only two others on the lake and they had about the same luck throughout the day.  All of my perch/pickerel were caught jigging a #5 Perch Type Rapala, while Eagle Crg got his with Hali's tipped with Gulp pink worms and tip-ups with small minnows.
Nicest of all was the solitude and beautiful surrounding mountains to enjoy while fishing.  Hoping Lake Lonely gets solid over this next weekend, but will be up in Northern Adirondacks for lakers/perch/pike/walleye until next Tuesday.

Returned to our hot spot and didn't fair as well with only ten keeper perch and two keeper pickerel.  30 MPH wind drove us off the lake after three hours of fishing.  Did catch over forty perch, but many were small.  Caught six pickerel, but returned four to get bigger.  Eagle Crg lost a hugh pickerel right at the hole that would have been interesting to measure on the ice.  Still a beautiful area with plenty of gorgeous scenery to enjoy and a nice healthy hike to get there and back.
With all this rain we won't have to punch any holes in the ice as the fish will be swimming on the top in the water.
