Hello Ladies& Gentlemen of the Ice
Can you imagine not being able to get back out on the ice? What if you could drive down the ramp and only look out on the frozen surface and watch. Worse yet, what if a physical limitation prevented you from ever going out on the ice in the first place. How much poorer your life would be. Imagine being disabled due to an accident, illness or combat injury and you can no long participate in your favorite activities. There are individuals in the area in that situation. We have the ability to provide them with an experience, that you may consider routine.
The Washington County Department of Parks & Recreation will be conducting a day of ice fishing for individuals with physical disabilities on Sunday, February 12th at Cross Creek Park Lake. Fishing will start at 9:00AM and conclude by 4:00PM. Volunteers will can be there earlier and stay later or work in the middle.
The PA Fish & Boat Commission will supply most of the equipment, but we can always use more (rods, shelters, heaters& electronics). Volunteers will be needed to assist with loading and unloading participants and supplies as well as helping with the actual fishing. If you have an interest in helping, we can find a task for you. Due to safety concerns, there will need to be a minimum of six (6) inches of solid ice for the event to be conducted.
