t/c30 cartridge

Whats your thought on the tc 30 cartridge. I've been reading that the tc 30 hits harder, travels faster and flatter then a 30-06 an a 308, It all sounds good but hornady is the only one that makes ammo and only one load. I'm afraid that if I bought a rifle id be stuck.

To be honest, I dont think there is much difference between the T/C 30 and the .30/06 when it comes to Ft-Lbs of energy. Both will kill deer deader than a door nail.

This is my take on the 30TC after reading lots of articles and ballistics reports....

Yes, it's a good cartridge, but so are lots of others.

As you have noticed, there is only one manufacturer, which automatically makes ammo more dear.

A .308 is a pretty boring cartrige but it is availble anywhere in many load configurations, is inherently accurate, Doesn't kick much, and is a short action cartrige. If that doesn't have enough oomph for ya, I would pass right by the 06 and the TC (You won't find that much difference in performance in a hunting situation) and look at a 300WSM. There are still lots of ammo choices, although expensive, not a whole lot more than 30TC.

That's my opinion, but fact is any one of the cartriges will kill anything you are going to hunt at reasonable ranges as long as you poke it through the slats.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.
