Heard a new one today
How bout this one. The PGC and the insurance companies have teamed up and are dropping mineral blocks from the air that contain chemicals that make deer infertile. I thought the dropping of rattlesnakes with parachutes from helicopters by the PGC was crazy enough. People believe this stuff. The fellow that told me this today insisted it was true along with the PGC trading turkeys for coyotes.

There's a sucker born every minute. I heard some dandy stories a couple weeks ago from this one individual. How in his lifetime, he's been attacked by two seperate 8 pointers and the last one he fought off with a homemade knife......he says that buck is now on his wall and his "pride and joy". The other was a doe, that he jumped out of a moving car with his buddy driving and grabbed hold of the deers back, which proceeded to take him for a ride across a field. I must be doing something wrong, because I don't come close to that amount of excitement when I'm in the woods lol. Face it, there's just alot of ignorant people out there.

I heard another good one today as well. The Fisher was reintroduced into the woods of Pa by the PGC for the enjoyment of those to observe and enjoy. They have no impact on other wildlife.

Little harsh there isn't it, this ain't the Salmon river forum. Had a fellow walk up to me while I was pumping gas last week. He was riding his Harley and stopped at the station to settle down. He came up and asked me if we had wolves and/or coyotes in this state. He said he had almost hit a big canine with his bike. Said the animal had to weigh a hundred pounds and was almost black...Might have looked that big when one almost hits it on the bike. Mabee those rumors are true...

not harsh at all, modifying a stupid quote on a fishy website does not equate with rippin off a Pulitzer Prize. as far as biker - my guess is the critter was a big white sheepdog that got sprayed by Harley oil. Bagged a yote last month - first one DOA in the last 8 months of trying. Starts getting easier now that the veg is gone.

I think what he saw was a sasqyote. It's an unforseen byproduct of the PGC's latest top secret operation of stocking sasquatch's in Northwest PA to curb the M'upper population that invades Erie County every fall when the Steelhead migrate. They are now breeding with coyotes and the population is spiraling out of control in and around the Lake Tributaries. .

As per the topic here, I don't think its THAT outrageous. Since the extreme antideer commission has approved a pro-use gonacon policy and its well known that there are some "scientists," who also happen to be tighter than two coats of paint with pgc, looking for more effective easier and cheaper means to administer it such as orally. Do I think its happening as OP stated? No. But in the not so distant future, I don't think it is going to be all that far fetched, though Im not so sure helicopter drops will be the course taken. Then again, this is the pa gameless commission we are talking about. lol.

Air drops of bait to control wildlife populations has been going on for over 50 years in the U.S. Usually it was bait laced with poison. They have also used air drops to control pests such as rats, to kill coyotes and to vaccinate wildlife from rabies. Using air drops of bait to control deer populations in remote areas makes perfect sense once a birth control is developed and an area where it is needed is located. Not sure there are any such areas in Pa at the present time.

Reason i was ruling our helicopter drops is that I was assuming within the foreseeable future when this would be utilized, it would be in very localized not remote areas. But these days, who knows....

I am surprised that there hasn't been more of an outcry from sportsmen about the stocking of Fishers in the state. With the problem we have with predators as it is ,it doesn't make sense to me to introduce a super predator like a fisher. sam
