Fishing around.......
Greetings:
Put in 6-7 days the last few weeks, started out real slow and got skunked two days in a row while putting in 10 hours each day
Fished the whole river from down low in the DSR to up high in the UFZ, which turned out to be some of the best fishing...seemed
the early runs went up there to hang out....the fast water was the best, that's where they were hanging out, fast takes and hot bright fish
even in the UFZ. Had some good days mid-river, eventually got into some good Kings and Ho's...not big numbers, but away from any
crowds, even had Ellis cove to myself one morning for 3 hours. Any way, strange thing happened one day around 11:00 to 4:00, my
first fish was a hot big steelie, about 13-14 lbs, took off like a bandit, 3-5 fast jumps and wrapped the line all around it's body on the
jumps, it eventually succumbed and I was able to land and untangle the fish. For the next 4 hours though, this spot had a nice run of
steel and skams, no Kings, no Ho's, just steel, every 15-20 minutes drifting in the same 50 yard stretch, I'd have a nice steelie on, all
big, 10-15 lbs. Anyway, just was odd for early on, and I must of totally lucked out and just hit this early small run of steel.
Remember guys, this is the drought run/return of fish from 2007 that we all wondered how they would fare, especially Kings from that
years low water year, so it seems even though the stocking rates were about the same it may have affected the way this years run is
shaping up. Anyway, here's a pic of a buddy of mine with a nice wild Skamania during our nice steel run earlier this month.
