New Guy saying hello

Hello All ,

Great site , I have been reading a lot of the post  for a couple of weeks now, Figured  I should do the polite thing and intorduce myself.

I have been going to the SR on and off  (mostly off )for about 15 years, basically one trip a year  in late Feb.  Last year I had the opportunity to go on 4 trips between Jan and March and it really rekindled my passion for steelhead fishing. Had some great days on the river  with a lot of fish on and landed.  So hopefully I will be able to put more time in  on SR in  the upcoming years.

Once again great site,  I am glad that I have found  this forum.

Take care

    jan-mar is prime time

    welcome aboard...

i suggest breathable waders with insulated boot foots for winter months... proper layering underneath is necessary... any type of capilene or underarmor as a long jon... then either one or two pair of fleece pants over that... smart wool socks over a regular pair... youre good to go after that...

ps... i am like fichy, i work in the cold as well; so my opinion may be biased...

    Salmo  and  DB ,

I am still old school and use  Neo for waders  with under armour and fleece wading pants  as  my two  layers,  and yes  I spend the $$ on good quality socks.  I would like to upgrade to a nice breathable  with a insulated Boot , seems like that would make some of the long hikes in a little easier, but for now  I will have to stick with the neo.
On the real bitter cold days  it really  comes down to  my hands that tend to fail first, still have not found a solution for that.

hey cape; try those thin blue capilene gloves; they are really cheep; i often wear those only and if really cold or windy; i put my cut fingered rag wools over them... they work great and i rarely take them off to tie my rigs...

surgical gloves work well for about 15 minutes; after your hands begin to sweat, they will freeze, i do not recommend that...

i don't have any current pics to post - and i don't do the historical lookback on the interwebs like the scanner crowd within
us - but I loved your current pics wiff Fichy

no local fishing pics, unless u like scenery shots - I'm sure u know what a 15" troot looks like,

i'm very leary of signing up to anything new on the interwebs (including photobucket & pron),

I use my Al Gore setup to make $, very few extracurrical interweb sites besides IRS & Pa Compass other than keeping an eye on youze d00ds here in Slammo playland...
