Had an Uncle who came home from WW2 with a bolt action Japanese infantry rifle, if I recall correctly it was in 7.6. His kids used it as a toy for years and it was pretty beat up-not to mention pencils, crayons and a metal rod all jammed in the barrel,
When he passed the kids were still young and my Aunt asked me to take the gun for safe keeping. I went to work and did a redo on the Jap. rifle carefully removing the barrel obstructions and a complete cleaning-all original.
The barrel was in surprisingly good condition all things considered. Took it out chucking when I got done and missed everything I shot at. That was just bout the most inaccurate heaviest kicking monstrosity I ever shot. It even still had the Airplane sight for shooting the bolt gun at Planes and was a neat piece of history.
Picked up a bayonet for it and gave the gun to his oldest son when he turned 18.
