Hudson River Striped bass trips ?

Ace Charters is back for the 2011 season ... after having to sit out of the 2010 season to circumstances beyond his control. I spoke with Capt Jim this afternoon and he is already booking trips.

His boat is docked at Coeysmans Landing (15-min south of Albany)

Good guy who has been at it for many years ... if your were thinking about a Charter, check him out.

Oh yeah, I'm gettin' psyched Brian. I need to go out more than once this year though. Need to revenge that monster that was lost last year.

When hell freezes over, I'll fish there too.

man i wish i had the money for a charter. ive wanted to go fishing for striped bass with my dad my whole life but we haven't been able to. i bought a medium-heavy 6'6" rod with 30 lb power pro line. i want to try some shore fishing with swim baits or live bait in late spring. any suggestions?

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he has to buy a rod, a reel, line, sinkers, swivels, hooks, leaders, lures, crankbaits, live bait, soft plastics and bobbers.

    Josh:

Go to Stripers 247 and you will find all kinds of information about striper fishing.  You can find tips on fishing from shore for them, what to use to catch them and the movement of the stripers as they come up the river to spawn.

Jman ... plenty of time to save up if you start now. Get 3-4 family members or friends, split over a group it's not that much really, and WELL worth it IMO. He still has a handful of dates left. Just drop my name to Capt Jim if you do

I heard the fish quality and numbers werent that good near Albany and Troy, is that true? I've got a totally rigged walleye boat but have never fished stripers before. Wanna try this year!

At the time of year they come from the Hudson and down to the long island sound, my brother just caught a stripe bass on the western part of the sound recently and it was a great tasting fish, but I its not something that you want to have a consistent diet off. Its so debatable that I only eat the fish from there every once in a while.

And if anyone needs a charter service for any type of fishing in the area around the western sound let me know I personally know some great captains
