I bought a showdown for xmas last year, its not the 5.6, its the model before it, but i absolutely love it!  Very user friendly, it shows the vertical water column instead of using the flasher.  Exteremly sensitive, and you can litterally watch the fish swim right up to your jig and take the bait!  I highly recommend it!!!

Just some friendly advice. If you do a site search, you will find this question was covered quite a bit previously. I thought about buying one myself, but decided to just keep it simple. People who have them seem to like them from what I can tell.

Have one and love it, works very well even in very cold weather and does as advertised. Mine is the 5.6.
This is my second winter for it and a sonar/fishfinder is a very good investment no matter what you buy.
I'm sure you'll hear from others and other brands and all will do the job and so does this one.

Just a bit of advice if you do buy one...search for it on google because the cost from the manufacturer is a bit expensive.  you can find them cheaper on the web!

first time using it was great, It comes ready to use right out of the box! However when I went out the very next day it didn't work. I blew the fuse, they seem to work better with a 3amp instead of the 2amp they come with.

Bought one back in august and boy am I glad I did.  No problems with this unit at all. Love the zoom feature especially when you have fish close to the bottom.  Wont go on the ice with out it.

Just got an LX-5. Marcum makes a great product! Any one try and shoot "though" the ice with their flasher ?

Mine shoots through the ice as long as its clear black ice. If its white ice or milky ice it has a hard time reading. Have to put some water on the ice too but not much
