lookin for a good load....

how many guys just said "thats what she said"...haha....anyway...i bought a browning abolt in .280 rem...put a leupold VX3 4.5x14 on it and it looks awesome...sooo anyone have a good load for this caliber...just wondering before i start toyin around...thx!

    remington accutip boatail loads are nice, i was told its more of a long range load but itll get the job done in the think stuff to

    I shot the accutip for a year or two before I started handloading. They were very very accurate out of my m700. One issue I had with them was the amount of damage they did to the deer. They left quite a hole, and didn't seem to hold up well, meaning the bullets fragmented more than others I've shot. Overall, there a good bullet, and I wouldn't hesitate to shoot them again.

    I don't shoot a .280 so I can't comment on exactly what bullet will work for you, but I would bet that particular gun will shoot most rounds well.

    I'm going to start loading some of the tipped Barnes Triple Shocks. I'm anxious to see how well a lead free bullet works out.

    I've pretty much always used remington factory loads of 165 gr. in my rifle and can't say one thing bad about them. I have used Nosler ballistic tip in 150 gr. with good results. They turn their lungs to jelly. I'm glad you setted in on the 280. You'd have to walk a long ways to find a better rifle. I'm gonna load up some Sierra bullets for my 30 caliber guns and see how they perform, then maybe try the 7mm bullets for my 280. Good luck on your endeavors....... Bill

    Drake...please keep me posted on the tripple shock...bowsling and crazy thanks for the great info...im really excited to see the performance on paper as well as hunting results...i was very lucky to stumble across this gun and the deal...im very excited...to anyone that wanna say weather i did good or bad i grabbed a Abolt stainless and put a leopuld 4.5x14 VX3 on it...the crosshairs were replaced with a center dot and im in my pocket for $600 for both gun and scope!...heres a pic

    A while back (several years ago) I was thinking of reloading for my 284 and had several people suggest the 139 grain nosler partition, can't remember the powder or how much tho. The only factory loads you can buy for the 284 are 150 grain and they are just too heavy for whitetail. Unless you aim for the shoulder it will just drill a 7mm hole through them. I buy every box of 125 grains I can find at gun shows.

    I tried the Barnes all cooper bullets in my .257 Weatherby and they coppered the heck out of the barrel at high velocities.  They were not worth the cleaning effort.

    This page has over 90 different loads for your gun. They are organised very well, i am sure will see that as you scroll twords the bottom of the page.
