Hogs can put a hurtin' to the garden, especially tomatoes when it's dry. I have a few around my garden and they are a real pain in the butt. My garden is not on my property but a neighbors and they don't want the animals killed, so I have to deal with it.

Elsewhere though on two farms not far from where I live I've put 97 in the ground so far this year. In the past 6 years I've averaged 100 hogs per year for a total of over 600 and this is off the same two farms and there are still many more to be shot. I believe they slowly migrate to better feeding areas and take over abandoned holes. Put two in the dirt this evening. Buzzards, hawks, fox, coyotes and crows clean them up in a few days, sometimes the same day.

Hell, if you have that many hogs, you should change guns if you can't find ammo for one.

well the price of 17hmr ammo went from 8 bucks when i bought the rifle, to 17.(i know "trauma obama" had something to do with this.)i also have to keep things kinda quiet,i shoot out of my house into my yard.i dont want any richochets so i use hornady v-max bullets(fragmentation on impact), as not to kill anyone.(i live in city limits.)

If the 22 or 22mag/17hmr are not appropriate I bring out my silent partner.
Winchester model 52 with target ammo sounds like a pellet gun

This is what I was thinking. Check it out. I've used some of his ideas with results. Ask an exterminator what to do or hire one.

I shoot 40 grain CCI Velocitor 22LR at them from my kitchen window and the wife and kid cannot hear them from a few rooms away.  Headshot kills them instantly.
