John:   We were up there last night, talked to 7 fisherman nothing but a few perch and catfish.  Went out at 7:30am this morning, tough day, caught 3 walleye one perch and worked hard for them.  It was flat, we trolled all day. Left at 2:30pm - put in at bowser.  Looked for you, didn't see another boat on the lake when we left.  This is a picture of my beautiful  wife - without the camo  We talked to 4-5 people and no one caught anything.  We feel pretty lucky. I will be up there next week, I think the bite is turning on real soon.  Sorry we missed you!  Marco.

Hello all!
Got the day off. Wife, dog and I are heading to Pymy today. Probably get there around 2:00 pm. Plan to fish till dark.
Looking to launch at Jamestown. Not really targeting anything in particular, just wanting to get on the water.
We'll be in a 16ft. SeaNymph, with a Bass Pro Shop Decal on console. Large dog onboard.
Stop by and say hello if you see us.

Like you Marco, the best catch I ever made was my beautiful wife who loves to fish and doesn't complain much when I go without her.
But, I'll try to boat something today and take a picture.

Watch out for the old duffer in the Fish Hawk, rumor has it, he's grumpier than that old hairy guy from Zelienople.

Good luck and we'll be keepin a 'walleye' out for yinz.  (sorry, me thinks that line requires some work)

Crappie_Slayer C'MON, it's partaaay time on the Pymie!  Besides............  I don't want to be the only dummy out there trying to catch fish that don't eat in the middle of the day.

Gotta get busy and fix my baloney and cheese sandmidges, the waters of Pymie beckon!!!!

Decided to try the north end this afternoon trying to get a good drift. Got the drift, but nothing but cats again. Beautiful evening to be out though. FYI, if you launch from Manning it is really shallow at the launch. Went in and out with the trolling motor. No walleye pics, so here's a nice sunset.

Crappie_Slayer it certainly was a beautiful night on the lake and, as far as I'm concerned, the fishing  wasn't any better walleye wise, between Jamestown and SnodGrass.  But that sunset was gorgeous for sure.

Had the pleasure of meeting "registered" (Rob) at the Jamestown Marina and, very much appreciate his lending a hand with getting the "Fish Hawk" in her bunk.  Enjoyed our conversation about the day and look forward to meeting him, another time, maybe on Shenango.

Once again, I can easily sum up my success in two words:

                                                                             STUPID FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, I'll just ask yinz to join me in seeing another picture of that awesome sunset:

Thank-you and goodnight!

Anyone have a water temp? I have to believe the thermoclime has turned over...

That being said, early in the week someone came in with a cooler 1/2 full. Perhaps it's still a moving bite, no where close to a shad dieoff! (Vertical jig). So that being said....

Anyone fishing structure? Any depth to the walleye? Or is it a pig and poke right now?

love the late summer and fall sunsets on that lake.  won't be long til the perch move in close, the eyes hit the bars and shoals and the ducks start winging in from the north.  something really nice about pymatuning once the summer crowds go back home.

Re: PYMATUNING FISHING REPORT 2015/09/26 10:35:32 (permalink)
Got a little fishing in yesterday. One good drift, missed a few strikes. Wife boated one LM bass and one small perch.
Was looking good until my boat filled up with water across the lake from Snodgrass. Made a dash to the Jamestown launch.
Pulled the boat out and let it drain. Lots of paper in the bilge?
I think a sheet of paper made it's way into the livewell drain?
Put the boat back in and everything was fine with the boat.
Stayed in range of the launch, just incase but no luck with the fish.
Was going to stay out a little after dark but my PITA dog was cranky so I decided I had enough at dusk.
Beautiful evening on the lake and I got to meet BTDT at the dock so my timing wasn't so bad.
My wife got some great pictures of the sunset but this is the only fish picture my dog would let me take.

walcat, i don't disagree that erie sunsets are indeed special, more so from presque isle or conneaut, there is still something akin to remote wilderness on pymatuning at sunset, especially the north end.  whereas lake erie is closer to two hours away, i can make pymy in half that time which makes it even more appealing.  also, i can stand waist deep in the waters of pymy and catch fish while i am also enjoying the last of the daylight.

I disagree. Lake Erie is fantastic. Took pics of sunsets up there since 1965.

Dang Walcat you been going up to Erie all these years.......... they should have a monument of you, depicting your reserved parking space.

PS. Saw your suggestion on the Greenlick thread but, ya know what they say about teaching old dogs.....................

Lake Ontario's evening sky while fishing......... I guess every lake has it's own special scenery.

I apologize for posting too many just got carried away after seeing those great Pymy sunsets.
