Great dinner last night for moms 74th bday . Cool temps .
Light rain and humid when I woke at 6 am . Putts around till nine . Rain stopped , heat and humidity moved in !! Spent some time on tin shed until it got 2 hot 2 handle .
Playing catch up on garage trying to beat the heat of the sun .
Dark clouds moving in and hope it's gonna drop the humidity but got a feeling it's gonna be a steam bath .

Wishin I was fishin

Putting in a trellace for next growing season and hadda dig some holes yesterday.
The first foot down was damp and deeper than that was dry as a bone- the fine stuff was like dust.
No wonder my apple trees have aborted so much this year. Tiny apples laying all over.
They always seem to abort excess early each year- but never like this.
Raining nicely right now-  will see if it lasts long enough to do any real good.

We got a cloud burst and about a 30 minute down pour, that does nothing for the dry ground as a lot of it runs off.Now they are talking about some tropical system moving up here at end of week.....I hope so!!

We did not get a drop last night and this am. Pulaski got a fair t storm.  Our watering hole for our cows is dry for the first time I can remember so we are aborting the garden and watering the cows.  Hoping for rain........

Humidity is down just a tad ,72% but starting to get HOT , "two hot to handle" that tin again . Gonna have to wait until sun gets behind trees . Speaking of sun , I haven't looked at sunset times but it's for sure getting earlier . Was below trees about 7:00 last evening .
Guess I picked the right weekend to get projects done as today is another small craft advisory on the Great Lake . Hope she plays nice later this week and the fish are hungry :)

Welp we had to drop a pump in the abandoned well on our corner and bring the genny up to power it. It has always had water. Filled a 100 gallon tote twice and the cows were happy.  Now we will fill a least once a day until the pond fills up.............

Hope the pavilion has lots of activities for the kids . Having 6 grandkids stuck inside a camper don't sound like much fun

Re:Weather thread 2016/08/08 10:45:40 (permalink)
Compared to the past and what is forecast, the last two days have been a bit more comfortable here in NW PA.  Right now we have bright sunny sky's,  a temp. of 74` F. and the humidity is 68% according to, the unofficial readings of, my official Weather Channel outdoor weather station.

Been a while since I could get out and enjoy the outdoors so I took advantage of the past two days, hooked the trailer and down the road I went.  Intended to get four but ended up bringing home five; three exterior and two interior,  pre-hung doors.

Man-door into my garage and entrance door to my house are in the same corner so the garage door blocks the house entrance.  (I didn't build the place)  The garage door sill and frame had rotted so I thought, this would be a good time to replace the original in-swing door with a metal/wood-core out swing and mercy sake, what a difference that made.

With more heat and humidity forecast it looks like the remaining two exterior doors will need to 'hangout' in the garage as I work with, the two interior doors, in a much cooler environment.

Hope yinz  get your much needed rain.

Weather and waves look like a big washout . Tomorrow and possibly Friday morning look like the only shot for getting out . Lake is supposed to build to 6 footers Friday afternoon . This is getting depressing and having 6 grandkids in tow makes it even more so

It looks as though we got a quick down pour right after I left for work. There is still a small puddle at the end of the drive......

We sure are getting a good drenching in my little piece of Penn's Woods. It's been one down pour and thunder bumpers after another since 4:00 PM.

More rain to come this evening but the weather dude says relief from humidity on the way.

How can a weather man be wrong ? . Might rain, might be High waves .
Crazy , it changes by the hr . Now it's looking like 1-3 are normal , 50% T- storms and possible steady rain . Really ?
We are packed and stacked no matter the weather .
Hope to share pics of the Great Lake adventures week -7

Had 6/10 yesterday and today an unpredicted hard rain and thunder and lightning storm -looks like more to come too.
Grass appears to be coming back from dead brown to green with a small rain a couple of days back so start it living again..then this too.
Humidity is unbearable.
Really happy about the much needed rain.

Ended with over an inch this morning and more coming momentarily.

Drove thru torrential downpours on rt 80 on way to ohio, noticed Spring Creek was high and muddy so that area got hit and is getting a bunch more today. Now if some of this would go over the Lehigh Valley I will be happy.
Also,my son -in -law was on a charter last week on western LO and he says they're killing them out there!

Rolling thunder and threatening skies as I type.  We could use it so I'm not complaining. I have wet a line in over a month due to low water and high temperatures.  Hope to start getting back on the Housy before the end of the month to sharpen what skills I have for silly season.

One strike was wayyyy toooo close out back- checked my tall evergreen trees and alls OK but will check out a bit further in the AM.
Still a light show nearby.
Was looking out the window saw the hit and the whole yard looked like daylight.
LOUD-swear I felt the house shake.

Re:Weather thread 2016/08/12 11:21:19 (permalink)
Second verse, same as the first; early afternoon through evening thunder bumpers bringing heavy down pours every couple hours, yesterday afternoon.  Thunder at times was awesome, starting with a low thumping type sound, way off  in the distance to my southwest then practically vibrating the windows as it passed overhead, until finally dying off to my northeast.

Did get my grass cut, but just in the nick of time and not without the effects of the the heat and high humidity.  Protocol for mowing includes the 'the dog log shuffle' which becomes more time consuming with each previous missed day so having gotten busy, installing new doors......, well let's just say ridding the yard of 'Fido bombs' took a while.  Now this procedure took place mid-morning yet, by then, it  was so hot and humid I was thoroughly soaked in minutes and I was wearing, nothing but a straw hat and my shorty shorts.

Now there's a picture for your mind's eye, but hey, it keeps the Amish neighbors on the other side of the fence.

Speaking of Amish folk, did you know Amish clans live in China, no seriously they must.  My straw hat was purchased at a big farm supply outlet and a sign said "Amish Hats" then when I got it home, I noticed the label inside said "made in China".

Weather dude says 40% chance of rain today with temps. in the upper eighties and high humidity.

Gotta git........ wife's voice is beginning to sound, a bit gruff!!

We had lightening and thunder all around us for the last two evenings, but we didn't get a drop. 10 miles from us got inches of rain.

I need some as I am growing weary of hauling water in buckets for 300 yards to the bare root fruit trees I planted this spring. Most are doing well, I lost one pear, one peach, and two Apple, and don't want to loose any more.
