Fish Hawk X4

Ok guys,

This is for all your "experienced trollers"

So i had my Fish Hawk X4 speed and temp sensor out for the first time. It has an adjustments or calibration setting for all four sensors.
Surface speed
Surface temp
Ball speed
Ball temp

Im not really sure how to calibrate or adjust these setting. Where should i start.
As far as the surface speed and temp, i guess i could match them with my readings on the hds. However, the hds speed is a gps reading. The x4 speed is a paddle wheel.

Please help!

here eyedreamn. in this pdf it gives instructions on the top left of page 12
    http://www.fishhawkelectronics.com/documents/Fish-Hawk-X4-Manual.pdf

We matched our x4 to our gps for temp and speed on surface.

When we calibrated our probe for temp we just put the probe on and lowered it just below the surface (as close to the transducer as you can) and matched the probe temp (ball) to the unit temp. Make sure its just below the transducer so it picks up the readings. That way when its lowered to desired depth you actually have a good reading between the two that shows the temp difference because both had the same temp at surface.

We did nothing to the speed setting on the probe. You could in turn do the same and try and match speed on probe to boat speed but, it was spot on for us on the surface. If you were to do this it would be best to do on a relatively flat day so you dont have the waves and the boat surging up and down.

If your still not sure about exactly what settings you want give Trevor from fishhawk a call. Hes a great guy to talk to and very informative. 218.232.8793
    Good luck.

    Rough,

Thanks for the quick reply. I will now consider you a "experienced troller".

That sounds like a good starting piont. I will give that method a try. I read my manual but they really dont tell you were to start.

See you out east for some lakers soon!
