    I've always been a huge Garmin fan and I still have on on my boat, in addition to that I have a HDS-5 and HDS-7.  I like the GPS on my Garmin better, but the fishfinder on the Lowrance units blows the Garmin away.  I'm also comparing a 6 year old Garmin to new Lowrance, so I really can't speak for Garmin's new fishfinder technology.
