Shallow Water Bite

I've been feeling the itch to make my first trip of the year to chase some early season walleyes. Just curious if any of you boat guys have gotten out to the lake yet? It's probably still a touch early with the wet and cool spring weather, but this recent warm spell should be pushing things in the right direction.

I know that I fished the Lake last year the entire week of July 4th and did alright on the eyes in shallow. Biggest problem was sorting through all the darn sheepshead just to get a limit or two of walleyes.

I will tenatively be making a trip Friday June 24th to scout around and wet some lines, so if anyone might be interested in accompaning me please PM me & maybe we could meet up...Thanks

fished Saturday morning just east of Shade's beach, we finally got in the zone (30ft) and boated 5 walleye. 3 poles went off at once and lost none. using old school flat lines with crawler harness. got one 27" hog on a red and white plug. also some Pittsburgh pike, smallmouth and 1 nice perch a silver bass and a couple gobies. lake was calm to 1 ft water temp 63. trolling speed roughly 1.7

Made the maiden voyage and fished Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

The lake was like glass on Saturday-the two of us only got 2 walleyes: a 23 & 27 incher and a bunch of sheepshead. We fished west of Walnut in 25-40 feet of water. Both the eyes were caught on RR 800's off the boards 100ft back.

Sunday we didn't fair so well. No walleyes and a bunch of sheepshead again. The winds starting blowing hard out the NE and got worse throughout the day. Lake wasn't too bad @ 6am- maybe 1-3 ft waves, but it continued to build into 2-4 ft's and forced most of the boaters off the lake (Us included).

Will definetley be back up soon. From all the guys I spoke to and heard on the radio the fishing was pretty slow for most on Sat. & Sunday.
