It gives you a good general idea to start....he uses glo-yarn but I think mc-fly foam works better.  The 2 are definately interchangable.  Follow the advice on not making too many wraps, perhaps the most important thing to remember when tying these.  The only thing I do differently than him is rather than tie all strands on top of the hook I tie one on the bottom, secure it with 2 wraps and a figure 8 wrap then tie the other strand on top, secure it with 2 wraps and a figure 8 wrap, whip it and trim it.  The way I do it saves from having to use a dubbing brush to fill in the undersize.

I just made a terrible glo bug with glo bug yarn then I used mcfly foam and its 10x better. I guess thats something that cost more but is worth it.

I much prefer McFly foam for glo bugs.  I use Glo Bug yarn for other things like Glo Bug yarn sucker spawn, bodies of woolly buggers, tails for woolly worms and even bodies for some spey flies.  The trick to making a good glo bug is to make the wraps very tight and not cutting the extra material off too close to the hook.

Make sure to keep alot of tension on the foam itself, then pull the material towards the hook eye, then cut. The closer you cut to the hook shank the smaller the egg will be.

P.s. be sure to tie some in size 14 and a white or light pink color!

Truly, you dont even need to tie any material on the bottom of the hook, because mc fly foam can easily be teased into whatever shape you like, thats what i think any way. Just saves a little time. I can tie one in a minute.
