Fall stocked trout observation

Alot of the trout I have been catching recently have been from the fall stockings. With that being said all but one i have notice have looked like their nose(I guess you would call it that) has been chopped off. Is this common? Or are they just stocking beat up trout?

See how it's nose just ends short of it's bottom jaw. It was exposed white flesh there, like it had slammed into a wall or something.

pxatim watch out you'll get a million post about how you are compromising the slime coat if your releasing that fish laying it on the rocks. I don't mind I know what its like to have no one around to take a picture. I've seen a few trout like that lately, I think it might just be from the travel. Maybe someone could explain more.

PA's rainbows are made to spawn in the fall.  Most fish are beat up from trying to spawn, also you will see they are very dark in color.  You also might have noticed alot of fish on the gravel right after they were stocked, this happens every fall.

i see alot like that. i always figured it was from getting beat off rocks and piers waiting to get into the streams when the lake is rough.

I observed the same thing when a friend and I went to Meadow Run 2 weekends ago.  These rainbows were pretty fiesty even for being "pelletheads".  There were really alot of nice sized fish stocked but I wondered the same thing, probably just confined mating activity in the tank.

I am assuming because these fish are in the hatchery longer, they are exposed to the concrete walls longer and it wears at them.
