Name This Fish

Found this fish head on the beach today. It was huge as the pic with my boot shows.  Lake Trout?

    it has the shape of a female steelhead. Could have been a dead 14 pounder that had its picture taken on the rocks too many times. hehe

    actually, it does look alot like the head of a bowfin. The lines seem to fit and the jaw looks like it had teeth in it.

    there are some large bowfin in the lake.

    Definite salmonoid, my guess is a big steelhead or king..

    Steelhead, has the different color cheek  area, big eye sockets, probably a big old steelhead that never got caught during its life span and finally bit the dust. Just My .02 cents

    The mandible size and shape and the shape of the nasal openings confirm it is a lake trout. Kings do not have nasal openings like that and neither do steelheads. That head is definitely a laker---and a pretty good one (unless you have really small feet!)

    It was still on the beach yesterday. After getting a close up look at it I tend to agree it's a laker.

    I don't give a crap if anybody listens to me or not.
