new guy...

Hello to everyone on this board...I love to steelhead fish and i love the outdoors...
 
I am currently a freshman Penn State Behrend which i think is awesome...
and since on from new castle (110 miles south) i love to steelhead fish and im pumped i live so close now...
 
i dont have a car, but i guess 4 mile creek runs through the campus, what i was wondering is how far down the creek do i have to walk to catch some steel, i heard they dont run this far up, i dont kno why though... any info will help

    Right now you have to walk all the way to the mouth...

    You don't want to walk. Steelhead rarely get above the dam at the golf
    course. Right now, the dam is closed, so it would be impossible. The dam
    usually is opened in early Oct. There are no steelhead in the creek right now.
     
    Just a reminder to everyone, the only access to 4 mile is by walking
    across the bridge by the dam, going down the bank behind the green,
    which is now a very gentle slope. Stay away from the fishing club
    building and fence. Stay off the golf course, or they too will not allow
    use of their bridge.

    Welcome to Penn State.  I work at Behrend, and have been fishing for steelhead about 12 or 13 yrs.  If you need some information, call ext.6186 and I'll do what I can to help you out.
