walnut should be entertaining Saturday

With all the reports, "walleye everywhere", "5 man limits in 10 minutes", "time to fill the freezer" and my personal favorite "go get'um boys". The nut' should live up to its name tomarrow. Might have to go down and watch.

On a calm, sunny, saturday in August, it would be jammed if there were no reports.

I have to agree with spoon on this one...

As far as reports going...I dont think a few of us posting on FishErie.com is the only reason walnut creek jams up...Word travels fast....dont give the reports page here so much credit.....

I think he's referring to the fact that all the noise and commotion from too many boats, puts the fish down. It is true, seen it a thousand times. better off to go explore away from the pack and find less stressed fish. just my 2 cents.

    Pike,

Lake Erie is one of, if not THE best Walleye fishery in the country, and August is prime time. The lot at Walnut WILL be full, and not ten of them will have made the trip based on the reports page.

Theres a quick fix when you think boat traffic has em shut down...

YOU GET AWAY FROM THE BOATS!!!...lol
Last week all those boats and the NETS WERE FLYING EVERYWHERE...those fish were TUNED UP!

Weekends draw the crowd...always have....always will.......

Guys fished this lake by the thousands before FishErie.com....not much has changed....dont give a measly 10 reports a week on fisherie credit for shutting down walnut creek....ridiculous...

I don't think boat traffic shuts them down, but inside of 40 FOW I think it scatters them a bit, or at least make them more finicky. Guys with planer boards will do ok, but it becomes tougher for those who don't when there's alot of boats. Over 40 FOW, it doesnt seem to matter as much. Of course in the shallower water, it's tougher without boards regardless of traffic.

spoonie...i wasnt sayin it does or doesnt...just said if you think that is the case...MOVE...lol

No i am a firm believer that walleye in this lake do not have a negative reaction to boat traffic....i think sunlight has more to do with it and usually when the boats are there in their mass numbers...the sun is also high in the sky...

However some days nothing seems to matter...hundreds of boats...hot and sunny and calm and the fish keep on coming....

Duncsmom and I went to a boat launch on Raystown last weekend with a picnic lunch.  We just pulled up a picnic table and watched the craziness.  It was better than any reality TV.  Maybe someone should contact Mark Brunnet and give him the idea of "Survivor -- Weekend Boat Launch."

I went to the Walnut launch today for the first time. Didn't take the boat was just checking it out. What a busy place. I watched quite a few boats go out and most of the guys I gotta say had their ducks in a row. I could see how a couple newbies and or incompetent boat backeruppers could wedge up the whole facility..I guess I would be slow man I fish by myself most of the time and have to launch, tie of the boat then go park the truck. Then back to the boat..

    sixers,

Not near as much entertainment, but you always seem to run into people with little or no experience.  I always try to give them a hand when I can though, because I realize I was in their shoes once.  As far as Walnut this Sunday....once again, all the boats flock to the loading docks, congesting that whole area, and the complimentary side docks were free and clear.  I simply tie up there, drop someone off and watch and wait until my trailer finally comes down the ramp and load.  Front row seat to some comical entertainment for sure.  The best was....the guy trying to launch his boat and the motor would not start....he pulled the boat out to the lot and tried to figure out the problem....turned out that the lanyard was pulled on the kill switch.....Yep, that was me!!!!  Darned those kids of mine!  It happens to us all.

Anyway, Took my nephew out...once we got fishing, we had a great day!!

I played the schmuck saturday. Launching the boat, I forgot to unhook the safety chain, and had to pull up a bit, cranker up to de-chain, and start over. Loading I lined the boat up, but must have turned the wheel a little on the final run up to the roller. Ended up cockeyed with the bow wedged in to notch on the side of the roller. Had to back, back in and line her up again. None of the mishaps resulted in EXECESSIVE delays, but far from the smooth operation I've become accustomed to. Fortunately no one was waiting behind me. Walnut is not the only access to lake Erie.

There are always some greenhorns its seems like at Conny.  Guys that drop the boat in, then tie off to the dock, get back in the truck and motor it around to park it, then take their time getting back to the boat, then firing it; instead of dropping, firing, and mooring at the wall like you are supposed to.  It can make it very congested and frustrating.

Forgot to add that SOMEONE tried to crank one more click on the winch, and broke the strap. Had to rely on a knot, and the safety chain till we got to Wallyworld. I would never have attempted it with a roller trailer.

Hey, I was just checking to see if the strap was still strong enough with that little fray in it.   Totally a safety check done on purpose. Now we'll know the next trip to lake O we'll have the boat locked down good and tight.

what I really mean, "Is parking available on weekends?". What a trip to wait in line, launch your boat and not be able to find a place to park.

Do not get me wrong, I just retired and believe retired guys can fish during the week and leave the weekend for the workers of america who contribute to the economy for which my retirement is based.
