Fishing by boat

How far away from the mouth of Walnut Creek would be best for steelhead when fishing by boat?  Going to try to get out in the next couple of weekends, using spinning rod/reel w/spoons.

Stay out of spoon range. Nothin' says back off like a 60 mph cleo. Seriously, if we dont get any rain, try 10 miles out.

You can troll the shoreline w/ J-9 rappalas, Jr. T-stix, etc. in bright colors as well as spoons.  Try to focus on the mouths of the tribs.

If you got the sack, run to the south lip of the first trench, run riggers and dipsys with spoons and you may even catch a few bonus 'eyes along with a lot of steel.
