    You must be from Erie.........

If vacation means going south of interstate 80 for the week-end

Measuring the distance between two place is done in hours

You often switch from heat to AC and back again in the same day

You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow in a raging blizzard
to get to your favorite steelhead stream without flinching.....

You see people wearing fishing vest and waders at all social events including weddings

Your driving is better in the winter because all the potholes are filled
    with snow

Your Idea of creative landscaping is a concrete statue of a steelhead
next to the blue spruce in your yard

That your snow blower has more miles on it than your new 4x4

That you go out fishing out everyday and to bingo on Wednesday nites
    for fishing tackle.......

That your 4th of July picnic has been moved iside due to frost

And most of all you actually understand these jokes. and forward them to all of your Erie friends....again this is not to insult anyone just trying
to add some humor and let all the bitterness END....fill free to add your own sayings.................

If you think a snow plow is a mandatory part of every pick-up.

If you think the 4 seasons are: Getting ready for winter, Winter, Still winter and, Boy! is it hot wearing this flannel.

If you laugh at Buffalo because they Really get snow.

If you ever had a mudpuppy for a pet

Want a fur lined jockstrap for Christmas.

Gave someone a down filled padded bra.

Yinz might be from Erie if:
You want to move to Pittsburgh for the warm weather.

Watch the weather channel to see if Bradford Pa or Erie is the coldest spot in the nation

The garbage trucks and school buses have plows.

Laugh at Pittsburg news tells about a severe snow alert with 1" expected.

You need a small snow blower to get to the garage where you keep the big snowblower!

After moving out of the snowbelt you come home to visit and dad has the biggest snowblower Sears sells in the garage.

    After leaving the area:
Everytime you hear a lawnmower you look outside to see how much snow there is.

    You must be from Erie:
If you think of Pittsburgh as a tropical getaway and dream of visiting Nevill Island.

You might be from Eriez if:

Took new scarf back to store because it was too tight

Fired from pharmacy job for failing to printl labels .... Helllloooo!!!.....bottles won't fit in typewriter!!!

Got really excited.....finished jigsaw puzzle in 6 months....box
    said "2-4 years!"

Trapped on escalator for hours.....power went out!!!

Tried to make Kool-Aid.....wrong instructions.....8 cups of water
won't fit into those little packets!!!

Tried to go water skiing.....couldn't find a lake with a slope.

Lost breast stroke swimming competition.....learned later, the
other swimmers cheated, they used their arms!!!

Got locked out of your car in rain storm.....car swamped because
    soft-top was open.

The capital of Pennsylvania "P".....isn't it???

Hate M & M's.....they are so hard to peel.

These are true reports given about Eriez employees:

Wrong on at least two points. I know nobody from Erie who wants to move to Pittsburgh. Oops, I'm wrong, there was one guy, and he was commited, involuntarily. And we don't drive 65 mph to go steelheading.
Personally, I can drive 30 mph, and be at any of 5 creeks in less than
    20 minutes.

It's fairly obvious there are not many fish to be had. Poor richards would be posting reports by now if there was even a small run.

Yinz may just end up sharing the dozen or so fish in the tribs now.  Not hogging, just letting you know we didn't get that much rain LAST weekend, the water level has gone back to low, and the day-time temps have rebounded a bit.  Take it for what it's worth... if you only get to spend a couple trips to Erie for steel, you should hold off another couple weeks.  If you aren't TOO FAR away, you'll find some crowds and few fish to deal with.  As the Miller Lite ad used to say..."You make the call."

T.T. is right on the money.  There are a few fish around the mouths of the streams, but not a ton and you have to really work for them.  If you are wanting the sitting on the wall and hammering steelies all day type of fishing, you will be disappointed.  If you don't mind sharing the stream with some pretty nice folks and picking up a steelie every now and then, come on up.  Good to all and may your reels be screaming soon.

The people of Erie have always seemed to be much nicer than the few posters that complain about MUPERES

My rant at the top was only ment to offend mupper haters.

Everybody chillllllll out.  If it weren't for all the tourists/fisherman visiting and buying Lake Erie stamps, we wouldn't have free launches and near the numbers of steelies being stocked.  Criticize all you want, but the truth of the matter is that we need the dollars!

Tim fisherman seems to catch 3 or more each time hes been up catching 1 makes the 3 hour trip worth it.

Id have to agree with marty, everytime Ive been on the tribs Ive run into a few locals here and there mainly on the days where it was undrivable conditions when I was fishing manchester hole with one guy who told me his wife asked where he was going and he said the manchester hole and she asked if he was crazy.... he said hunny this is gonna be one of the few days I might have that hole to myself... he was pretty close cuz him and I fished and only saw 2 other guys for 6 hours.  thats just 1 of many times i ran into people that were awesome. another time I ran into a guy who was a transplant from johnstown due to schooling and meeting his wife there. amazing what just saying HI to people and asking them how they are doing not if the fish are biting.

the problems Ive had are guys "mupers" or people not from erie and see you catching fish "what are you using, are there anymore there" or my personal favorite sharing a drift with my float and their rooster tail.

truth is most of us bash each other on here to take up our time till the steel come or the eyes and perch are at there best.

I just worked a 16 hour day and had to come on just to see what everyone was saying today, Ill admit Im an addict of the fisherie fourms... obvisously 750+ post means Ive got no life besides work, fishing, and this site.

Im a muper and Im thankful for the great fisheries that erie provides me every year and hopefully for my son and his kids as well.

I would think the same if I had'nt been there myself...
All big fish, mostly 6-9 pounders.
Actually Iv'e never seen so many big fish this early in the season.
whoever is fishing the channel in the morning will be pleasantly surprized. Kwikfish and KO's are the lures of choice.

Look guys there will always be jack**** muper's and jack**** locals.  The only nice muper I've ever met was on the stream(well at least that I knew they were from Pitt.).  He had never fished for steelhead a day in his life and was tickled pink that I would help him out since he had no net.  Did I **** that he was in the spot that I wanted to fish, no.  I was just happy for him that he got his limit of fish the first time out.  This is the prime example of why I will never post a report on this site.  Half the people will question if I'm lying and the other half will be there the next morning.
