Be drippin'.

Now the tough part.  First dinner or second?  Walleye or butterfly chops.

AFTER the wild brookie chasin' and remote deer scoutin'.  We are going to be earning our din' din' in a different way this time.  No paint brushes, just several miles of walking, casting, and scouting.

To quote your avatar, "Uuullllllllllllgggggg.  Forbidden pork chops smothered in apple sauce."

...with a side of onions and shrooms.  Followed up closely with beer and bourbon.  Mmmmmmm.

One thing will make it better.  To see an elk or two stroll on by.  One can only hope.

First, the bad news.  We were so hungry, tired, sore, scratched, and thirsty from fishing one of the most remote trout streams in PA, that when we finally got back to camp to cook dinner at 10:00, we just inhaled the chops.  I think they tasted great, but I don't remember them actually touching my tongue.

700+ vertical feet in less than 3/4 of a mile.
    (notice dry shirts)
    Both ways.

You know you're in for a rough day when you are sweating profusely and strain your calf muscles ON THE WAY DOWN only to find a dry creek-bed when you get down there.  We did find water and fish soon after, though.  Then, it was time to go UP. (whimper)

The good news is that we now know we AREN'T hunting there.

More good news was discovered about 25 yards from the porch.

Fresh elk tracks on top of deer tracks.  Within crossbow range of the porch.  I may not leave camp if I pull a tag.

We did hit the brookies well on Sunday.

    spin-pleab has success

The caffeine and pellet-food program of the LIRC is working wonders.

Our guide/Drill Sergeant went extreme on back to back casts.  Above is his smallest ever.  Below is a monster wild brookie, his largest ever.

I must say, church was fun on Sunday:

Once again, Brookie Boot Camp pushed it's recruites to their limits, only to have them band together as a unit to hunt and battle fierce mountain brookies.  Just don't tell Skip's wife where we took him.

AWESOME pics!  Man, what a hike that is!  My back would be killing me for weeks if I had to trek them woods!  That looks like hernia territory!

What do you mean, "hernia territory" ???  I don't get it.  Did you see the rod Skip built.  It's so lite, even you could carry it for miles.  Heck, the water we carried in was the heaviest item, and even that wasn't enough.  Some of us still cramped up.  Thank Jeebus for pharmacists.  ...and whirlpool tubs back in civilization.
