ISO: Muskie rod setup ideas

Looking to fish muskie this year on the Allegheny and Mon. I could use some recommendations for gear. I do not want to spend $600 on St. CROIX Rod and 9.1 reels. Anybody budget fishing these beasts? Baits: large glides, rubber Medusa and dawgs etc...
