Cleaning Up Finders Keepers Lures

Maybe I'm the only one who does this, but has anyone else ever found a nice lure along the lake or creek that could be salvaged and used but it's covered in that black gunk? Does anyone have any reccomendations on wire leaders? The reason I ask is just today I got bit off by three pike. Edinboro Lake

I'm going to chance it on the ice tomorrow (Saturday) and take some guys with me. I hope to put them on some fish. Does anyone have any tips on fishing this lake through the ice for crappie and walleye? I'm going to try to put out some shiners and dead bait to see if we can get a musky to play too. ..
