Anyone boat fishing for lakers? (Erie PA)

I may get the boat out one last time this season - thinking about trolling or drifting for near shore lake trout (Erie PA). I heard it can be great fishing this time of year, but never tried it. Anyone doing this? Any success?..

Walnut Creek water gage

Can anyone clue me in to what is a good number for fishing Walnut Creek when I look at the water gage? I'm never sure how long to wait after it rains to know if the conditions/flow are good or not. Thanks for any insight...
