Only thing is with some of the ponds overseas they are not overly stocked so with guys fishing every single day and like Steve said they are using a hnv (high nutritional value bait) they get very large.With a lot of places here that get heavy angler action you can see a lot of those fish getting larger as well over time. I would probably break my back if I went to lift one of those bad boys up though. lol

 
You would need a serta matress to unhook one that big.

dang! iv seen some big ones maybe 50 swimming around but nothing that big..i used doughballs with corn inside. i hate it when a giant snaps off or gets off because you dont see them..same for catfish this summer i was using a 4-6 inch section of a sucker and i hooked into a big one at night but it snapped off after 20-30 minutes..ill never forget that monster

Yep, it's all in the way the fish is held and the angle the pic is taken, etc., etc.  Hard to tell the true size by a pic sometimes.  Of course, a fisherman would never lie about the size of his catch.

Well guess it's time to update this again.

The current world record common(scaled) carp is up to 88lbs. 2 oz.:

Well, it's been awhile since this thread was updated, but the world record carp records have reportedly changed a little over the last couple years.
The overall record carp (a mirror carp) has finally topped the 100 lb. mark at 101 lbs., caught last summer:
