I don't have a boat so i don't fish for crappie/perch much but i do fish for walleye from shore and steel.  I keep em too!
Recommendations on a good filet knife that won't break the bank please?

Dexter 7”, under $15, stays sharp and sharpens to a razor blade with little effort. I also have a Cutco Fisherman’s Solution, $120. I never reach for the Cutco. Dexter one does need you to buy the sheath separately, so $40 if you want their sheath. You can get a Mercer Culinary protector for cheap instead. I left a Dexter and sheath at a cabin and was super bummed over it. I replaced it with the 8”, but I like the 7” better. Has a skinnier point, which is nice to start through the skin filleting.

I have a cordless Bubba. It came with 2 batteries and 4 different blades. Covers everything I do. I had a Rapala cordless that was nice. I still use it once in awhile. I haven't fileted a fish with a manual in eons.

I do have a corded Rapala. But only use if I get a mess of panfish. I don’t ever catch a mess of larger fish that I keep.

Have quite a few brands of manual fillet knives. The one I like the least is the Buck folding, the handles have a little play in them so gave away over 50 to friends and family, LOL! None of them will brake the bank is you use it often. Don't use my Cutco's very often but buy them cheap when I can.

Got a 100 Mustad's this month and they seem okay but haven't tried yet. Have over 700 Dexter Russell's in all styles taking up room. Best bang for the buck IMO.

Learn how to keep a razor sharp edge is the most important thing with any knife so less chance of getting hurt.

I have over 700 Dexter - Russell's in many different styles. My favorite from them is the 18" pizza knife with the attachment. Don't have 700 fillet knives from them though. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/11927870557494403175?q=dexter+russell+pizza+knife&prds=eto:13598767463197299547_0;1667121815582450702_0;17277200175035444283_0,pid:4312298315294946188,rsk:PC_16996262553770955767&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi1gcvmiPiAAxVClokEHd5eAogQ9pwGCAc

I can send you a New in the package Mustad with sheath. I like the handles on them but never gave them a try. Just told the old lady to bring back a couple from storage. Think they are 7" ? PM me where to send. I'll try and get it to you next week.

I use the wore out sharpened  to almost no steel left Dexter's the most. Only have a few like that though, rest are new or like new

Bad luck lately, storm around 1:00 am knocked out the fridge. Did save over 2 grand on a new  unit (last one) this morning so not a terrible thing. Little to much with the extra round ball ice maker for fancy drinks in the back and hidden front door panel for condiments though.  Takes about 15 minutes to change the control panel so will save for a backup. All refrigerators are junk these days, even the ones $3,000++ smh. Least they can deliver it tomorrow morning since it was one odd ball in the back,  otherwise would be  close to a week to get. Put all ice-cream and popsicles in the deep freezer
