What are you people flinging?

Anyone shooting heavy or stiff arrows, or conversely, anyone shooting super speedy arrows?

I lean towards the heavier side.  Never plan on shooting at a deer past 30 yds and I want good penetration when I do hit one.  Most of my stand sites have 20 to 25 max. shots due to how thick they are, even in the later season.

Similar situation, everything I hunt in anymore is a jungle.  30.5" running the Easton 5MM FMJ, I am still shooting 100GR fixed (Not looking at the heavier/$$$ single bevel yet), but I am thinking about picking up some heavy inserts to try to gain some FOC.  Anybody try the inserts to gain some front end weight?

My arrows are about 570 I'm shooting 28.5dl out 70# hoyt defiant . 300 spine with 50 grain brass and 200 grain iron Wills . That was the magic weight that flew like darts. Only lost about 7fps as well

Thunderpole,

Did you start with a pack of different sized field points to see what worked the best with your bow?  I shoot right under 70 pounds, same spine (300).  This is something I should have been screwing with starting in March, but you know how it is.

Dirty I just seen your reply. Yes I bought a ranch fairy kit 150-300g points maby it's 200-300 I can't remember but you got 2 points in each weight. I tried them all with bare shafts at 20 yards into a hay bale. Watching for perfect flight. We'll straight flight no left/right sway making the arrow come in sideways

I should also add iv tried them all, different spines brands of arrows. Fixed blades and machincals. Then I took a deep dive and bought different shafts different point weights. A chronograph, scale, spinner bunch of techy stuff. Did a ton or research read everything I could and just started experiments. And the past 2 years since I went to the Iron wills (super top quality head) unbelievably sharp. And the higher foc. The deer I have shot all didn't even know they where hit. They didn't have time to spook they just died. A few jumps trots and that's it. None probably went 75 yards or less. Idk what it is but I'm sold on the concept. And most importantly I'm not afraid of no shoulder now.
